Car Park Flooring at Chigwell, Anti-Slip Epoxy Resin and Line Marking

Overview

Anglia Decor carried out a full car park floor refurbishment at an underground car park in Chigwell. The existing floor had a dusty, worn clear sealer coat that was no longer providing adequate protection or a safe surface for vehicles and pedestrians.

Underground car parks face particular challenges including tyre wear, oil and chemical exposure, and heavy daily traffic. A deteriorating sealer coat allows concrete dust to become airborne and reduces slip resistance, 2 issues that compromise both safety and appearance. This project addressed both problems with a durable epoxy resin system and fresh line markings.

Diamond Grinding

The team prepared the entire floor using vacuum-assisted diamond grinding. This process removes the old sealer coat, surface contaminants and any loose material to expose clean, sound concrete. The vacuum extraction captures dust at source, which is particularly important in enclosed underground environments where airborne dust has nowhere to escape.

Anti-Slip Coating

Once preparation was complete, the floor received 2 coats of anti-slip high-build epoxy resin coating. High-build epoxy systems provide superior film thickness in fewer coats, delivering excellent abrasion resistance and chemical protection. The anti-slip profile is essential in car park environments where oil, water and tyre marks create potential slip hazards.

Epoxy resin coatings transform underground car parks from dusty, uninviting spaces into clean, bright and professional environments. The coating seals the concrete permanently, eliminating dust and making the surface easy to clean and maintain long-term.

Line Marking

After the resin floor had cured, the team masked out individual car park bays and numbering before applying 2 coats of line marker. Precise line marking is critical in car parks for maximising the number of usable spaces, directing traffic flow and ensuring pedestrian safety.
