Overview
Anglia Decor delivered a major industrial flooring project covering 3,400m² of warehouse floor in London. The works took several weeks to complete and involved heavy preparation, large-scale defect repair, the installation of 45 tonnes of Industrial Top, a water-based epoxy sealer system, and a finishing coat in SF41 BS00A05. The finished floor was handed over ready for service, transformed from a dust- and debris-covered substrate into a clean, level, light-grey industrial surface.
Initial Site Clearance
Before any flooring works could begin, Anglia Decor swept and cleared a skip full of dust and site debris from the building. This was carried out specifically to allow the follow-on trades on site to continue working safely while we held off on our preparation phase. Concrete infills were then placed to large defective areas of the existing slab to bring the worst sections back up to a workable level.
Surface Preparation
Once the other site trades had completed their works, our flooring team returned to carry out a full preparation programme:
- PCD grinding and full vacuum across the entire 3,400m² area
- Bobcat planer used to take down high spots in the slab
- SBR primer applied in 2 coats to ensure full bond between the substrate and the new screed
- Deep defects infilled with Industrial Top to level the surface
- All existing joints marked and protected before the screed installation
Industrial Top Installation
45 tonnes of Industrial Top was installed across the prepared substrate, creating a hard-wearing, level base ready for the coating system. Industrial Top is a heavy-duty cementitious overlay designed for large industrial floors that need a smooth, durable, dust-free finish capable of taking forklift and pallet truck traffic for years. After the screed had cured, our team carried out an STR rub down and full vacuum to remove laitance and any surface contamination before sealing.
Coating System
A water-based epoxy sealer coat was applied across the full 3,400m² area. Once the sealer had cured, our team filled all pin holes and cut new expansion joints to mirror the existing slab joint layout, preventing future cracking from natural building movement. The floor was then given a final STR sand and vacuum before the SF41 top coat was applied in BS00A05, a clean, neutral light grey that maximises light reflectance inside the warehouse and gives a consistent professional finish across the full floor area. Sikaflex expansion joint sealing is currently in progress to complete the installation.
The Team
A fantastic effort from Alan and the entire Anglia Decor team. The project demanded plenty of overtime, real commitment, and hard graft over the last several weeks to deliver this floor to the standard the client expected. Working around other site trades, holding the programme together, and pushing through the heavy preparation and screeding phases on a job this size is exactly the kind of work the team has built its reputation on.
