Lord's Cricket Ground, Resin Flooring to Pavilion Staircase and Landing

Project Overview

Anglia Decor returned to Lord's Cricket Ground in London to carry out a resin flooring installation across the staircase and landing area of the historic pavilion. The works included repairing defective areas with epoxy repair mortar, cutting and filling expansion joints, and coating the full surface with Poly Coat UVR in slate grey. The finished floor delivers a clean, UV-resistant surface built to withstand heavy foot traffic.

The Project

The staircase and landing area at Lord's required a durable, slip-resistant floor coating that could handle thousands of visitors during match days and events. The existing surface had areas of damage and deterioration that needed addressing before any new system could go down. Anglia Decor carried out a full programme of repairs and resurfacing to bring the area back to a high standard.

Defective sections were cut out and filled using epoxy repair mortar, restoring structural integrity to the substrate. Expansion joints were cut and filled to prevent future cracking and allow for natural building movement. Once all repairs were complete, the full area was coated with Poly Coat UVR in slate grey.

Coating System

Poly Coat UVR is a UV-resistant polyurethane resin coating designed for exterior and semi-exposed applications. The slate grey finish provides a clean, professional appearance while offering strong resistance to UV degradation, foot traffic, and weathering. This makes it well suited to outdoor landing areas and walkways where the surface is exposed to direct sunlight and rain throughout the year.

The UV-resistant formulation ensures the colour remains consistent over time without the yellowing or chalking that standard epoxy coatings experience when exposed to sunlight. This is particularly important in a high-profile venue like Lord's, where appearance standards are maintained to match the prestige of the ground.
