The Project
Anglia Decor carried out a full exterior refurbishment of the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Norwich, delivering preparation and respray works to the cladding, curtain walling, pillars, and shutter doors. Working alongside HCC, our team restored the entire building exterior to a clean, professional finish that meets the premium standards expected of one of the world's leading automotive brands.
The Mercedes-Benz dealership in Norwich required a comprehensive exterior refurbishment to restore the building's appearance and protect the cladding from further weathering. Anglia Decor was appointed to carry out the full scope of preparation and respray works across 4 distinct surface types: cladding panels, curtain walling frames, structural pillars, and roller shutter doors. This was a full-envelope refurbishment, covering every external surface of the dealership from ground level to roofline.
Cladding Spraying Preparation Works
Every surface received thorough preparation before any coatings were applied. The cladding panels were cleaned, degreased, and abraded to ensure optimal adhesion for the new coating system. Curtain walling frames and pillar surfaces went through the same preparation process, with particular attention to areas where previous coatings had deteriorated or where corrosion was beginning to develop. The shutter doors required careful masking and sectional spraying to achieve a consistent finish across their ribbed profiles.
Cladding Respray and Finishing
The cladding respray programme used high-performance coatings selected for their durability and colour retention in exposed commercial environments. Anglia Decor's IPAF-certified operatives used mobile elevated work platforms to reach all areas of the building safely and efficiently, working across multiple elevations simultaneously to maintain programme. Cladding panels across all elevations were resprayed to a consistent finish, eliminating the patchy discolouration that develops on weathered metal surfaces. The new coating system extends the service life of the existing cladding by an estimated 10 to 15 years.
Working on an Occupied Dealership
Commercial dealership refurbishments require a contractor that understands the demands of working on occupied, customer-facing premises. The Mercedes-Benz Norwich project involved coordinated access across multiple elevations of the building, with works planned around the dealership's opening hours and customer traffic flow. Anglia Decor completed the project on schedule and with minimal disruption to the dealership's day-to-day operations, including sales, servicing, and MOT activities.
The Team
A big shout-out to Aleks, Steve, and Perry for their hard work and dedication on this project. The team delivered a quality finish across every surface of the building, working efficiently around the dealership's live operations throughout.
