The Project
Anglia Decor completed a 740 square metre industrial resin flooring project in Witney, Oxfordshire. The scope covered full diamond grinding of the existing concrete, epoxy repair mortar to fill defects, a scratch coat to level the substrate, then 2 coats of Epocoat HB to give the client a hard-wearing, chemical-resistant floor built for heavy industrial use.
The facility in Witney needed a full floor refurbishment across 740m² of industrial space. The existing concrete had surface defects, uneven patches, and areas of wear that made it unsuitable for continued use without intervention. A proper resin system was the answer – not a quick coat of floor paint, but a full preparation and multi-coat epoxy installation that would last.
Anglia Decor handled the project from start to finish: substrate preparation, defect repair, levelling, and the final anti-slip coating.
Diamond Grinding and Surface Preparation
The floor was mechanically prepared using diamond grinding equipment across the full 740m² area. This strips out laitance, old coatings, and surface contaminants, leaving clean concrete with a proper profile for the resin to bond to.
Without proper grinding, resin coatings delaminate – they lift off the concrete, particularly in environments with heavy traffic or chemical exposure. The team ran full dust extraction throughout the process to keep the working area clean and the substrate free of debris.
Defect Repair and Levelling
Once the grinding was complete, every crack, hole, and surface defect across the floor was filled with epoxy repair mortar. This is a two-part resin-based filler that bonds to the concrete and cures to a strength that matches or exceeds the surrounding substrate.
A scratch coat then went down over the full floor area to improve the overall levels and create a uniform surface for the top coats. This step is what separates a professional resin installation from a budget job – it ensures the finished floor is flat, consistent, and free of low spots that would otherwise show through the final coating.
Epocoat HB Anti-Slip Finish
Two coats of Epocoat HB anti-slip went down as the final system. Epocoat HB is a high-build epoxy floor coating that delivers excellent chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and a textured anti-slip surface – 3 things any working industrial floor needs.
The high-build specification means a significantly thicker dry film than standard floor paints, which translates directly into a longer service life. In an industrial setting with regular foot and vehicle traffic, a properly installed Epocoat HB system typically lasts 8 to 15 years before it needs attention.
The Team
Great job from Ryan and the Anglia Decor team on this one – 740 square metres of floor taken from bare concrete to a finished anti-slip resin system, done properly from the ground up.
