The Project
The Shurgard facility in Ipswich is a large commercial self-storage building positioned on a prominent roadside location. The existing cladding had weathered over time and needed a full respray to bring it back up to the Shurgard brand standard – clean, vibrant red panels with crisp white sections and clear signage presentation.
Anglia Decor was brought in to handle the full respray across all elevations. The building's size and height meant the team needed a combination of cherry pickers and scaffolding to reach every panel safely.
Preparation and Spray Application
Every cladding surface was cleaned, degreased, and prepped before any coatings went on. Areas around signage, windows, and entrance points were masked off to protect them from overspray. The team worked systematically across each elevation, spraying the red and white panels to a uniform finish that matched the Shurgard brand specification.
The spray application used high-performance coatings designed for external metal cladding, offering strong colour retention and long-term weather resistance.
Working Around Challenges
This one came with a few headaches. The cherry pickers broke down more than once during the project, which held things up and meant the lads had to work around downtime and reorganise the programme on the fly. On top of that, the neighbouring site was a car dealership with hundreds of brand-new 25-plate vehicles parked right next to the building – so overspray protection and careful access planning were critical throughout.
Despite the setbacks, the team kept at it with early starts and got the job finished to a high standard. The building now looks fresh and sharp, exactly as a branded commercial property on a main road should.

Well done to Will, Courtney, Jakub, and Alan for getting this one over the line. Cherry picker breakdowns and a car park full of brand-new motors next door made it a trickier job than it needed to be, but the team stuck at it and the finished result speaks for itself.
