Overview
Anglia Decor, working in collaboration with AJ Industrial Roofing, is carrying out the removal of 2,000m² of asbestos roof replacement and the installation of a new Kingspan QuadCore metal roofing at The Green in Twickenham. This project involves the safe strip-out of deteriorated asbestos cement roof sheets across the full roof area, followed by the installation of a modern, high-performance insulated roof system designed to deliver improved thermal efficiency, weather resistance, and a significantly extended service life.
Health, Safety and Environmental Management
Health and safety remains the primary consideration on this project. The presence of asbestos cement roofing requires a fully licensed removal process in compliance with current HSE regulations, including controlled removal methods, continuous air testing, and certified waste disposal through approved facilities. Anglia Decor has implemented comprehensive safety measures across the site, including:
- Underside safety netting installed beneath all work areas to protect personnel below and prevent falling debris
- Full perimeter edge protection installed prior to any roof works commencing
- Continuous air monitoring throughout the asbestos removal phase to ensure a safe working environment for all operatives and building users
- Detailed RAMS and asbestos plans of work completed and approved before commencement
Scope of Works
The full scope of works at The Green, Twickenham covers the removal and replacement of the entire 2,000m² roof area. The key elements of the project include:
- Safe removal and licensed disposal of 2,000m² of asbestos cement roofing
- Installation of new Kingspan QuadCore composite roof panels, a high-performance insulated panel system delivering excellent thermal efficiency and weather protection
- Installation of new rooflights to improve natural daylight within the building
- Installation of new rainwater goods including guttering and downpipes
- Full edge protection and safety netting systems maintained throughout the project duration
Roofing Solution
The existing asbestos cement roof is being replaced with a Kingspan QuadCore composite roof system. QuadCore is Kingspan's highest-performing insulated panel core, delivering superior thermal conductivity compared to standard PIR insulation. This provides the building with significantly improved energy efficiency and reduced heating costs, a major upgrade over the original uninsulated asbestos sheets. The new composite roof system provides a clean, modern appearance and is designed for long-term durability with minimal maintenance requirements. Combined with new guttering systems and strategically positioned rooflights, the completed installation will deliver a comprehensive upgrade to the building's roof infrastructure.
