Overview
Costco Watford required a full external cladding spraying across 4,000m² of wall and roof cladding. The existing coatings had deteriorated, and the building's appearance no longer reflected the standard expected of a major retail warehouse operation. Anglia Decor was appointed to carry out the works through the Toureen Group, who managed the wider refurbishment programme.
Surface Preparation and Access
Our team set up controlled access using cherry pickers supplied by JPS Platforms Ltd, allowing safe and efficient coverage across the full elevation and roof areas. All cladding surfaces were degreased and pressure washed to remove dirt, oxidation, and any loose or flaking coating. We then carried out a thorough rub-down of the substrate to create a sound mechanical key for the new coating system. Masking and sheeting were installed to all glazing, signage, and adjacent surfaces to prevent overspray, particularly important on a live retail site with customer and vehicle traffic throughout the working day.
Coating System Applied
We applied Zinsser Allcoat Exterior in satin finish to all prepared cladding surfaces. Zinsser Allcoat is a high-performance, multi-surface coating that delivers excellent adhesion and long-term weather resistance on profiled metal cladding. The product provides a uniform satin finish that restores the building envelope to a clean, professional appearance. All application was carried out by on-site spraying to achieve consistent coverage and film thickness across the full 4,000m² area.
Results
The Costco Watford cladding respray was completed on schedule with zero overspray issues, despite the challenges of working on an active retail site. The building's exterior was fully restored, giving the Watford branch a refreshed, well-maintained appearance in line with Costco's brand standards. The Toureen Group and Costco were satisfied with both the quality of finish and the minimal disruption to daily operations throughout the project.
