Roof Spraying Coating Systems and Specification Service
Roof spraying applies a spray-applied coating membrane across the entire roof surface to seal, waterproof, and protect the existing roof material. The coating bridges hairline cracks, seals porous surfaces, and creates a continuous weather barrier over the existing sheets, tiles, or felt. For profiled metal roofs on industrial buildings, elastomeric acrylic coatings flex with thermal movement and resist UV degradation for 15 to 20 years. For concrete tile and slate roofs on commercial properties, resin-based sealers penetrate the tile surface, prevent moisture absorption, and restore the original colour. For flat roofs, liquid-applied polyurethane or GRP membranes create a seamless, fully bonded waterproof layer over the existing substrate.
Anglia Decor specifies the coating system based on the roof type, pitch, exposure, and condition. Metal roofs in C3 (urban/light industrial) environments receive a primer and 2-coat elastomeric topcoat at 200 to 300 microns total. Coastal and heavy industrial environments (C4/C5) receive enhanced primer systems with thicker topcoats for increased corrosion protection. Tile and slate roofs receive a biocide wash to kill moss and algae, followed by a penetrating sealer and optional pigmented topcoat. The industrial roof spraying specification includes targeted repairs to fixings, laps, ridges, and penetrations before the coating is applied.
Roof spraying is 60 to 80% cheaper than full roof replacement and completes in a fraction of the time. A 1,000 m² industrial roof coating takes 4 to 6 working days compared to 3 to 4 weeks for a full strip-and-reroof. The building stays operational throughout , no internal disruption, no temporary weather protection, no production downtime.
Roof Spray Application by Specialist Contractors
Anglia Decor carries out a full roof survey before quoting. The survey covers sheet condition, fixing integrity, lap and ridge sealant, gutter condition, rooflight condition, and any existing leak points. A photographic report with marked-up roof plan identifies all defects and repair requirements. The repair programme , fixing replacement, sealant renewal, minor sheet replacement, gutter repair , is completed before the coating goes on. Coating over unrepaired defects wastes money and fails within months.
Surface preparation involves pressure washing the entire roof at 2,000 to 3,000 PSI. Metal roofs are washed to remove dirt, chalk residue, and oxidation. Tile and slate roofs are washed to remove moss, lichen, and algae , with biocide treatment to prevent regrowth. Once dry, corroded areas on metal roofs are wire-brushed and spot-primed. The full surface is primed with a bonding primer, then topcoated by airless spray in 2 passes. All work is carried out from the roof surface with full edge protection, safety harnesses, and crawl boards.
